I intend the material to be lucid enough for nonchemistry majors, yet to contain the depth required by advanced undergraduates. I have attempted to present the subject in a rigorous, readable, and interesting manner that will appeal to students whether or not their primary interest is chemistry. My goals are to provide a sound physical understanding of the principles of analytical chemistry and to show how these principles are applied in chemistry and related disciplines— especially in life sciences and environmental science.
